The PNHP national office is coordinating a campaign to take advantage of the opportunity to advance the cause of health care justice and reform afforded by the high profile Michael Moore's "Sicko". Those who have seen it report a powerful message that the system is broken and the three principles of repair are -
1. the private insurers have to go;
2. everyone has to be insured;
3. pharma needs to be regulated.
The PNHP national office has produced a web site, www.sickocure.org,
that has much information of use to organizers and citizens interested in
joining the cause. We will pass out leaflets at theater showings - with
examples of what people can do, where they can sign up to support of HR676
and HR 1200, join email lists, etc. This will be a good time for letters to
the editor.
Michael Moore visited Seattle on June 14th to introduce Sicko to an audience
of activists prior to its June 29th general opening

Washington Health Security
Coalition (WHSC) formed and initiates 2007 - 2008 strategy
The Washington Health Security Coalition (WHSC) has been
created to create a broad and powerful coalition and voice for comprehensive
health care system change in Washington and our country. We lobbied in
Olympia for HB 1816/SB 5756 to provide affordable, quality healthcare for
all citizens of Washington and were given a message from our supporters in
the Legislature, "Go create a movement for health care reform and march on
Olympia with 100,000 voters if you want action......." Washington State must
do its part on the national level also and the WHSC is committed to national
action. Statement on mission, structure, goals for 2007 - 2008, and an
initial action plan for the new WHS Coalition:
The next meeting is June 3rd 12:30-2:00 PM Durham
Room, Horizon House. There will be teleconference capability.
